Winter has arrived on our little farm here in SW Utah and we are enjoying the fresh snow and season of year. We have winterized our home, garden, and farm equipment, have stocked up on fresh foods to hold us through the recent snowstorms.

In these chilly, snowy winter months, we spend time each morning and evening hauling warm water to goats and chickens, giving them extra sweet feed and corn to help them stay warm, and adding fresh bedding to their sleeping
areas and nests. As we pass by the now peaceful garden and orchard in their restful, winter state we think of the wonderful bounty they produced for our family this year, as well as our extended family and others, and are so grateful
to have land to work and the health to do it.
This year as I considered what Christmas gifts might be most useful, we decided to have cases of food-storage delivered to each of our children and their families. We are watching the prices of food skyrocket, and some items are a little scarce. It gives me comfort to know that my family will have the basics should winter storms, power outages, illness, unemployment, or other difficulties come their way.
